Considering tennis has a long-standing history of being a gender-inclusive sport, the court has always been a site for budding romance. Despite 'love' being a popular tennis term, real love on the court happens quite frequently as we have seen with iconic tennis couples like Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, Roger Federer, and Mirka Vavrinec, and Fabio Fognini and Flavia Pennetta.
Tennis as the ultimate matchmaker is no new thing. According to an interview with Kevin Jones, the curator at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Museum in Los Angeles for TIME Magazine, for centuries, tennis was one of the few pastimes that brought both sexes together, meaning flirting was frequent. This places a unique emphasis on taking appearance into consideration when planning for a day on the court.
Finding common ground with someone over a shared passion for a sport is a great indicator of relationship potential and luckily for you, there is a chance to do exactly that coming up! If you live in the New York area, there is an event taking place on April 23rd at SPORTIME Roslyn.
